10th December 1917

Private Alfred Williams, 241132, 2nd/6th South Staffordshire Regiment, died of wounds on 10th December 1917. According to Soldiers Died in the Great War, he was born in Knowle, Warwickshire and enlisted in Wolverhampton.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find any trace of Alfred in either Knowle or in Wolverhampton. The only clue we’ve found is that the Register of Soldiers’ Effects lists Alfred’s next-of-kin as his stepmother, Emily Scandrett. However, we haven’t been able to trace her with any certainty.

If you have any futher information, please let us know.
